Beekeepers

Group: Beekeepers

Definition: People in Bath engaged with beekeeping, as a hobby and/or otherwise.

Reasons for selecting: Beekeeping around the UK has attracted growing attention in recent years as bee populations have declined. Bath’s beekeepers are dedicated to ensuring this craft remains current by sharing know-how and expertise with those who are interested in keeping bees themselves.

As part of their project ‘Picture in the Paper’, artists LOW PROFILE searched for all of the people in Bath who are active with beekeeping, as a hobby or otherwise, bringing them together to make a professional photographic portrait of as many people in this group as possible.

TIME: 15:00 – 16:15
LOCATION: BRLSI, 16-18 Queen Square, Bath, BA1 2HN

The beekeeper portrait was one of 18 group photographs taken in November 2014, before being published in the Bath Chronicle and then put on permanent public display, in the new Centre for the Arts at the University of Bath when it opened in February 2015.
