Definition: Individuals living aboard boats in Bath

Reasons for selecting: We were attracted by the open, friendly and close knit community of people who live on boats in Bath. With some boat owners taking on permanent moorings and others living as continuous cruisers, those who live on boats take a slower approach to life, live more simply and get to know the city in a very different way.

As part of their project ‘Picture in the Paper’, artists LOW PROFILE searched for all of the people in Bath living aboard boats, bringing them together to make a professional photographic portrait of as many people in this group as possible.

The liveaboard boaters portrait was one of 18 group photographs taken in November 2014, before being published in the Bath Chronicle and then put on permanent public display, in the new Centre for the Arts at the University of Bath when it opened in February 2015.
